Spring 2025 Auditions

Monday, Jan 6, 7:00 - 8:30 PM
Metropolitan Community Church of Tampa
408 East Cayuga Street, Tampa FL 33603

Joining the GMCTB involves a significant commitment of your energy and time.

  • Tech Rehearsals: Fine-tuning lighting and sound for performances during concert week.

  • At-Home Music Review: Expected between rehearsals. Learning tracks available.

  • Annual August Retreat: Includes Saturday and half of Sunday for rehearsal.

  • Additional Performances: Voluntary opportunities at events or local venues, aside from regular shows. Highly encouraged.

  • Dues: Required each season. Financial Assistance available to assist with payment plans or to reduce/offset membership costs.

Auditions are held twice a year, in January and July, you don’t have to identify as gay, or even male, to sing with us! We only require that you are willing and able to sing a traditionally male vocal part: tenor, baritone, or bass.

Please read all of the items that apply to you thoroughly. We may make updates from time to time so please check back every once in a while.

    1. Fill out our New and Returning Member Form

    2. Audition – Show us what your voice is made of!

    3. Once accepted, pay your new Member Dues! Don’t worry – we offer payment plans and scholarships if you need them (email Treasurer@gmctb.org)

Join us at our first rehearsal on Monday, Jan 27, 2025, at MCC Tampa (408 E Cayuga St).

  • If you have not sung with the chorus within the last year (Spring and/or Fall 2024), we ask that you go through the audition process again, primarily to let us assign you to the proper voice part.

  • We offer two audition options:

    1. Schedule an In-Person Audition for Monday Jan 6th, 2025, from 6:30-8:30pm at MCC Tampa (408 E Cayuga St) OR

    2. Submit a Virtual Audition via email to Artistic.Director@gmctb.org before Monday Jan 6th, 2025, at 11:59pm

    1. You will need two devices; a playback device (laptop, phone, tablet, etc.) and a recording device (laptop, phone, tablet, etc.). Some devices will allow you to play the audition track and record yourself, so that would also work!

    2. Sing through the audition video below to select which voice part shows the most beautiful and free part of your voice!

Each video contains a set of two vocalises (vocal exercises) and a backing track for “My Country Tis of Thee” that will need to be performed. The first vocalise will be sung on a “Za-awh” and the second vocalise will be sung on a “Zee”. Please watch the sample audition video for an example!

    1. Once you have selected the best voice part for you, prepare your audition video! Find a quiet space with good lighting to record the video. Make sure your face is clearly seen in the video from a good distance and angle. Hit record, play the video that corresponds with your voice part, and sing along! This should only take a few minutes!

    2. Once your video is recorded to your liking, please then submit your recording via email by either sharing a link or adding the video as a direct attachment to Artistic.Director@gmctb.org. There should only be one video submitted with both the vocalises and “My Country Tis of Thee”.

    3. Please also fill out the New and Returning Member Form prior to the deadline!

    1. Sign up for a 5-minute audition slot on Monday Jan 6th, 2025. Slots are available from 6:30pm until 8:30pm. If you have any trouble signing up, please contact our Membership Director at Membership@gmctb.org

    2. Like the virtual audition, we will ask you to sing “My Country Tis of Thee” and the vocalises linked above.

    3. Please also fill out the New and Returning Member Form prior to attending!

  • For virtual auditions, you will receive notification of membership acceptance within 48 hours of your submission, if the New and Returning Member Form is also submitted.

For in-person auditions, you will find out the same night!

  • Spring dues are $150 for new members and $135 for returning members. However, no member will be turned away due to financial need. If you need to work out a payment plan or discuss a scholarship, please reach out to our Treasurer at Treasurer@gmctb.org

  • Our Membership Director is a friendly face that can help you out! His e-mail is Membership@gmctb.org

  • If you have any technical issues, please reach out to our Artistic Director, Kyle Goyens, at Artistic.Director@gmctb.org and he can assist you or provide an alternative solution!
